This is feeder is one of our favorites for keeping hungry eastern bluebirds fed while keeping the European starlings at bay! Bluebird feeder comes with a clear glass (dishwasher safe) mealworm cup and wire mesh barrier guard. This baffled bluebird feeder is surrounded by sturdy vinyl coated wire mesh with 1-1/2" square openings to keep out starlings and most squirrels. The top and bottom are fully galvanized steel and powder coated in Erva's exclusive "Copper Tint" finish for years of durability.

The glass cup is 3.25" in diameter and 1" deep and holds about two handfuls of dried mealworms.Ā  This feeder comes with a galvanized cable.Ā The cable with the slide pulled down to secure the lid adds 12" to the height of the feeder, which measuresĀ 14" W x 8" H.Ā

Attracts the following birds:Ā Eastern bluebirds, chickadees, downy woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, orioles, wrens, and occasionally warblers. We've had mixed reports from customers: sometimes northern mockingbirds fit and sometimes not.

We recommend adding the Perch Accessory, soldĀ separately, to help your bluebirds perch together, decide on an entry point, and gain easy access to the feeder.

You may also mount it on a 1" pole by using aĀ Pole Adapter, sold separately.

Need more mealworm feeding capacity and a dish that's winterproof? Try swapping in this newĀ Aluminum Replacement Dish.

Made in the USA.

The BEST!!

Finally….. I can feed the bluebirds and not the starlings!! We still go through tons of mealworms but now the majority of diners are bluebirds and small birds such as chickadees and titmice. The starlings manage to clean up the edges of the bottom from the perches, but otherwise this beautiful feeder is starling-proof. I’d recommend ordering the larger cup from the start to save on shipping. My husband was filling the feeder 3x a day with the cup that came with the feeder. If you have a large group of bluebirds…. You’ll be glad to have a bigger cup. Pricey but worthwhile investment!!

Fantastic mealworm feeder for the smaller birds

Love this feeder. We've always had a problem with a flock of noisy starlings that would go through a bowl of meal worms very quickly. Flying piggies. With this feed up we had our first bluebird in less than 5 min and now seem to have a group of about 5 that keep coming back on a regular basis. As far as the starlings go, we had a few come by on the first day and try to get access to the meal worms unsuccessfully. The perch also helped to discourage them as well. Since that first day, we've only had one starling come back to see if any meal worms had been kicked out to the ground. It's been much more peaceful and the meal worms last longer. We've also been attracting many more small colorful birds when they don't have to compete with the starlings. This is a fantastic product.

Bluebird feeder

A little bigger than I thought it would be. But it works great. Easy to refill and so much fun to watch the birds go in and out. I got the perches and they seem really important for the blue birds to have a good landing spot.

We won the battle!

We had a serious mockingbird problem.
They became so aggressive that our bluebirds and Carolina wrens were unable to access their food. The mockingbirds took over our domed bowl feeders completely. Mealworms were devoured and scattered on the ground. The bluebirds were scared away.
We decided to splurge and try the Erva feeder. We thought we had succeeded but the mockingbirds kept trying. They would hop around the feeder stick their head in the lower 2 rows of the barrier and eat the mealworms that had been scattered around the edge of the feeder. They still wouldn’t leave the area and the wrens were still competing with them to eat.
So I had the idea to use narrow zip ties around the middle of the 2 bottom rows of the barrier. They are almost invisible and they prevent the mockingbirds from accessing any food around the edges.
Today, a couple of weeks later the bluebirds are coming back and they figured out the Erva feeder. They and the wrens can now eat. Success!
The mockingbird bullies are finally getting the picture and we see very little of them in our yard. If only they were willing to share with our other birds but oh well. Thanks!
