Mondays with Martha #248 - Sand Coreopsis

I hope you had a great National Pollinator Week! This week I share an often overlooked but wonderful June-blooming wildflower that supports pollinators in my own store landscape: Sand coreopsis or Sand tickseed (Coreopsis lanceolata). This species is a great addition to sunny and dry pollinator gardens and along the borders of well-drained flowerbeds, helping to fill that June lull in blooms. Drought resistant and clump forming, it makes a beautiful turf and groundcover alternative when planted or seeded in larger quantities in dry soils.
