An adorable nest box and roosting house for your adorable screech owl friends! It may also be used by kestrels and flickers. Made from western red cedar for a rot-resistant house that will last for years!

Entrance hole is approximately 4" wide by 3" high. Front panel pivots upwards for easy cleanout and monitoring. Cross bars on outside and inside of the front panel aid owlets as they crawl into and out of the box before fully fledging.

Overall outer dimensions: 15" H x 9" W x 10" D, including the roof overhang.

Box interior dimensions: 6-3/4” W x 8” D x 11-3/4 to 13-1/4” H.

We have an Eastern Screech Owl pair

This box is so well made. It came with nesting chips to put in the box, and wonderful instructions on where to place it. We installed it and within three weeks we had a male and female making it's home inside the box. It is the sweetest thing to see the little face popping out basking in the morning sun. So glad we bought this box!

Received my box, excellent craftsmanship, very heavy duty and easy to put up. Thrilled with this box and cannot wait to have an owl live in my new owl box♥️

Very nice Owl House

I have only peeked at the owl house because I bought it as a Christmas present. I thought it would make a great gift because we had this visitor sleep in our patio after Hurricane Ian blew down some of our screens to our pool enclosure. I’m hoping he comes back and makes it his home.

The owl house seems very cool. Just waiting to see if any owl(s) show up. Enclosed was a one page instruction on where and how to hang in a tree. Somewhat confusing on location in tree but I guess I will figure it out.

How do you keep squirrels from taking over the box.

Typically if there are owls in your area, and they are interested in using this nesting box they will evict the squirrels without problems. You can pole mount a box on a tall (at least 10ft tall) post or pole. You would need to attach a branch to the box so the young owls can practice "branching" out from the nest box. The owner of Nature Niche has had screech owls in her nest box on a tree for a couple of seasons now. The squirrels will sit on the roof, but since the owls are using it they don't seem to hang around. How do you attach this to the tree?

We recommend 2, 3-4" long wood screws. Bands around tree trunks are a bad idea, as they will slowly girdle the tree as it grows. Checking your location for how vertical the box sits against the tree and the need for shims is a good idea, as is predrilling the holes.
