Product Details:

  • Ground stake (must be cemented into ground)
  • Top perches for even more bird viewing
  • 11" wide by 24" long aluminum squirrel/raccoon guard that attaches to the bottom of the polywood hub to keep other smaller, unwanted guests out of the feeders
  • Room to bottom mount an additional two hopper feeders on the cross pieces that hold the hanging feeder arms; each feeder must be less than 13" wide and have a bottom plate at least 5" deep to attach to both cross pieces. The Mini Magnet Post Mount Recycled Feeder is shown mounted this way in the product photo.

Whether it's bears or the outdoor elements, this feeding station is meant to last!

Installation:
Installation is step-by-step process. The steel ground stake is cemented into the ground by digging a 9" diameter hole that is 36" deep. These dimensions require 2 or more bags of dry cement mix, available at your local building store. The 2" square 14' aluminum pole will slide over the ground stake and rest on the cement. All hardware is included.

Bear-Resistant Aerial Feeding Station

This feeder is amazing! It holds 4 of my large feeders and I also slipped on 4 finch feeders. There are also pre-drilled holes so you can mount 2 additional feeders on the steel bars! We have bears that have visited twice and have left it alone (the main reason we purchased the station). We have saved so much money on food bc the squirrels aren’t emptying my feeders everyday. Easy to use. Smart design. Easy to install. Extremely well made.

Thank you for taking the time to review. We appreciate your feedback. We are so glad this feeding station is working out well for you. We hope you and your birds get great enjoyment out of it for many years to come!

Hilltop Specialties Bear-Resistant Aerial Feeding Station

I bought this mainly because I was sick of feeding squirrels. I was filling multiple feeders every other day with black seed and suet pellets to keep up with the fuzzy little rats; since installing in mid-June, I have actually saved money and am feeding my birds every third or fourth day. Had a small bear come by a few nights ago and I don't think the bear even noticed the new feeder. This is a great product and Nature Niche had the best price. This feeder is well worth the money and I am very happy with the service from Nature Niche.

Bear proof feeding station

This is the second bear proof feeding station i have purchased. The first one I purchased is farther from the house than I would like. I purchased this one because I wanted one closer to house for viewing the birds. The first one I purchased is about 4 years old and have no complaints. The bears were destroying my feeders and was sick of taking the feeders down at night, prior to my first purchase. A great product. Nature Niche was the cheapest I could find.

Easy to install. Works great. Silver baffle is larger than it needs to be.

Bird feeder

Very impressive construction. Solid, easy to put up. I haven't attached the varmint guard for the time being. We'll see it it's an issue. The 4' extension is perfect for viewing from the living room.

Do you have a video showing how the raising and lowering of the system works? If the pole is too high for viewing can I just stop at any point while raising it and secure the cable at a lower height?

Nature Niche

Unfortunately we do not have a video at this time. You can raise it and lower it, but the manufacturer recommends keeping it as high on the pole as possible otherwise the bears will be able to reach it.

If a large bear really pushes on this 2 inch square aluminum pole, would it truly not bend like a pretzel? The concept and design seems great but I am a bit concerned about sturdiness. Thanks...

Nature Niche

Thanks for the question. It is very sturdy, especially with the ground stake that gets cemented into the ground 36" deep. It's important that the winch crank be kept as low to the ground as possible, so a bear can't use it as a step stool to apply more of its weight higher on the pole. We have sold over 100 of these units and have not had one bent out of working order to date. Hope this helps!

We live in eau claire wiss. Have 2 feeders and like the overall construction , But - our weather can snow , sleet , and freeze . What happens is the top that holds the feeders will freeze up and not crank down . Looking for a solution to this problem .

Nature Niche

We coordinated with the manufacturer, Hilltop Specialties, about this ice issue, and they stated that water can freeze between the station hub and the pole. To break the ice and be able lower the feeders, they suggested trying to leave a little room at the top of the pole, so the station hub can be raised/winched upward to try to break the ice then be lowered. They did not recommend oiling the system, as they felt it wouldn't make a difference; and it can be detrimental to our feathered friends if they get oil on their feather.

H
How do you reach the feeders?

Is there a way to reach the feeders without a ladder, is there a pulley system to bring it down to ground level?

Nature Niche

Yes!. There is a pully system! It uses a crank wrench and cable, where you can crank the feeders up and down from the ground. It's all included with the system.

M
ML

What critters would get up there without the baffle?

Nature Niche

Squirrels, raccoons, perhaps opossoms... any animal that can climb well.
