The feeder isn't the problem. The setup is.
Raccoons can simply reach past a standard squirrel baffle. This full-length raccoon baffle will defeat both. Any critter that tries to climb the pole will hit a smooth, wobbling wall it can’t get past. Set the top at least 4-feet off the ground to prevent squirrels from jumping over it.

Deer don't climb, they just reach. The pole extension adds a full foot of height, lifting your feeders above where a deer can stretch its neck and pull seed from the trays.

Squirrels are jumpers. Place the pole at least 10 feet from fences, decks, and overhanging branches, so there's nothing to launch from, eliminating both ground and air routes.

For squirrels alone, sometimes. For raccoons, no. They can reach right past a short, standard baffle. The raccoon baffle in this kit is longer, so it handles both.
Ten feet. Squirrels can jump surprisingly far horizontally and drop in from branches above. Measure from the nearest fence top, deck rail, or overhanging limb. If it’s under 10 feet, move the pole.
Possibly. Even if deer aren't a problem now, the added height is cheap insurance. It also lets the baffle sit high enough that longer feeders stay above the top of the baffle.
All you need is a long shanked screw driver and pliers or adjustable wrench.
The pole base twists into the ground. The pole sections slide together with lower bottom section attaching to the screw base using a set-bolt. Snug the bolt using pliers or wrench to keep your pole sturdy.
The baffle rests on a mount that attached to your pole using screws. Simply set the mount at least 4 feet above the ground, tighten the screws, and slide your baffle on the pole.
