Barrier Guard Seed Cylinder Feeder - Copper

Once I figured out how to put it together (you really need to provide easy directions with drawings) it seems to be working fine. Maybe it should come already assembled? Maybe I don't have it put together correctly? I honestly don't know. We hung it under the dogwood tree, and the seed is disappearing (we've already gone through one cylinder of seed), so I am assuming that little birds are eating it. I haven't actually seen birds around it though. The openings seem too small for squirrels (I hope!) and I don't think deer can get to the seed. Overall, I am pleased with this feeder. Would sure love to see assembly directions, though.

Wish I bought this sooner keeps those big pesky bigger birds out and from big messes. Came back and bought one for sure. This will keep them out of destroying a suet cake in a matter of minutes. Just wish there was something for my cardinals to keep those pesky birds out . My little woodpeckers are loving it.

I'm very happy with this cylinder feeder so far. I have had a real problem with a flock of female red-winged blackbirds cleaning out my feeders and bullying the other birds. I switched to feeding all safflower seed, including a safflower seed cylinder but the Downey Woodpeckers went away. Now I can put the Downeys' favorite seed cylinder without fear of starlings or blackbirds getting to it. It took about five or six days before any bird ventured in. At first it was the Carolina Wren, then a Palm Warbler. Just yesterday for the first time I saw one of the Downeys inside on the cylinder pecking away! I am very happy with this feeder. I ordered this cylinder feeder about 2 weeks ago. I am very pleased with it. I wanted something to keep the Starlins and Doves out and this feeder definitely keeps them out. Worth buying.

I purchased this feeder locally and so satisfied I bought another one. The Chicadees and Finches can get in and eat the Sunflower Chips, and leaves the Dried Worms for the BLUBIRDS.The larger aggressive birds can't get in and devour ALL the food and it was getting very expensive. I am 100% satisfied with this feeder. :-)

I was having issues with crows, switched to this feeder and am able to continue feeding fruit and nut blend to an array of little birdies with no issues with aggressive birds. Woodpeckers are a huge fan! Definitely recommend.

We love this feeder. I put it on my deck where the Starlings used to make a HUGE mess. Now I've just got little birds like bluebirds, finches, and downey woodpeckers. :-)

The copper cylinder is beautiful. I've had a bluebird look @ it but it hasn't gone into it yet for the food. I hope I have some birds find it soon. Thank you. Jane Lewis

I bought this as a gift for my niece. She loves it and is thrilled the starlings don’t eat the food for smaller feathered friends.

I Love my new bird feeder! Birds love it, and it keeps out the squirrels too!

I love watching the birds and it has been my hobby for many years.About six weeks ago the big black grackles began to take over and rob my feeders of the bird seed I put in them. I had tried many different kinds of squirrel proof and large bird protector feeders, but the grackles would outsmart them all. So I finally bought a Barrier Guard Seed Cylinder Feeder - Copper from
Nature Niche online.It's a beautiful feeder and it really did the job. The grackles immediately quit trying to get feed out of that new feeder. Now things are back to normal and all the pretty songbirds have feed again and I can watch them. Nature Niche was great to work with and I will buy more bird products from them.

This feeder was easy to set up. Little ones were feeding within minutes. Grackles and Starlings tried to get in, but quickly gave up. Now all we have are chickadees, finch, nuthatch, wrens, downey woodpeckers, and others. I do miss seeing cardinals and blue jays, but they go to my neighbors feeders. Bluebirds can get in, but prefer neighbors easy access feeders. The feeder is very pricey, but I’m saving money by not feeding those pesky black birds.

I love the squirrels, but not in my bird feeder. This is the perfect solution. It is well made and allows the small birds to come in and keep the squirrels out. This barrier guard cylinder feeder is very well made and sturdy. Soon after I hung it outside, I watched a squirrel check it out and he promptly left since he could not get to the food. I am very pleased with it and would order it again. It took the birds about 7-10 days to use the feeder but now they are coming regularly. I have another cylinder feeder that is not enclosed in which I use the flaming hot food cylinder so I can feed the larger birds too. The squirrels don't like the flaming hot food, so the two feeders are the best for enjoying small and large birds!

I was having too many large birds crowding out the smaller ones. This is a great answer to that issue.

This has been very effective so far in keeping out the larger, pesky birds and allows easy access for the smaller birds to enjoy the seed log. I do have a red bellied woodpecker who does his best to lean in and nibble , and I’m always glad to see he successfully gets a bite. It’s the starlings and grackes that I want to keep out because they clean me out in a matter of hours.

I love that the squirrel cant get to it but have yet to have any birds
In it to eat is there something i need to do to have them do this.
Also the starlings can't get to the feed either which is a very good thing cause they eat everything up

Smaller birds protected. Bird seed lasts longer. Bigger birds still get what’s on the ground.

I put this feeder out right away. Birds have not shown any interest yet in over one week. I hold out hope that they will eventually figure it out. The feeder is lovely & very sturdy. I wish I could add the perching system but read that it doesn’t work on this particular feeder? I’m happy with my purchase, but I would be over the moon if the bluebirds & finches would actually USE it! Patience is a virtue…

The birds seem to like this feeder. It doesn't come with perches. I did order them later. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

I bought this feeder to deter starlings that have recently become a problem. I bought it with the pole adapter to mount it. Since my pole was slightly larger than the advertised 1 inch diameter, I was able to use a smaller connector between the pole and adapter and mount it on my pole. I no sooner put it with the seed cylinder when the very persistent starling made an attempt at the seed. No dice! Frustrated, he flew off. It took less than a day for a goldfinch to try it out. He has become a regular. A few days later, the downy woodpecker started using it. This week, I'm seeing the dark eyed junco and now house finches at the feeder. Since I couldn't use the perch accessory with the pole mount, I created my own perches using stained 10 inch long craft sticks. They slide easily under the cage and anchor under the cylinder tray. This is the perfect feeder to deter starlings and other large birds!

I bought this because we were being over run by starlings and house finches. The cage challenged the starlings—a few could get their heads in to get a bite or two but most were thwarted. The downy woodpeckers can get in, but the big woodpeckers have to be bold enough to stick their heads in. Of course, the finches, titmice, chickadees and wrens are small enough to get in. We do not have a problem with squirrels because we use “squirrel stopper” poles to hang feeders. I changed to five Erva feeders with cages for suet, mealworm, and cylinders and they have reduced the onslaught of starlings.

This feeder is wonderful for our bluebirds. The invasive starlings & grackles can’t fit through the mesh sides. Highly recommend this feeder!

I was skeptical to purchase this feeder as I read a couple reviews that said the orioles wouldn’t use it. I absolutely love this feeder!! It arrived very well packaged, material is top quality. I hung the feeder and within 15 minutes the orioles were enjoying it, and best of all the starlings were not! I am very impressed with Nature Niche and will def continue to purchase from them.
