Love watching the little birds.

So far no bluebirds but one by one the Downies, Chickadees, Titmice, and a little wren have figured out how to enter the cage and feast on the bluebird column with mealworms. I don’t see how the bluebirds will fit through the openings but I am trusting you when you advertise this feeder as a bluebird feeder.

The barrier guard on any of the barrier guard feeders that we carry is made specifically to allow bluebirds and smaller birds to get through to enjoy the food on the inside.

Please note that the 'area' of the square opening is 1.960' inches. The standard and ornithologist recommended opening for a bluebird house port is 1.5' (area is 1.76'). So, the area of the feeder opening is actually 11% larger than a typical bluebird house opening.

In the following 'Mondays with Martha' the owner shows footage of her own barrier guard feeders in use that her bluebirds have learned to navigate:

It can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks for the birds to find, figure out, and get used to a new feeder, so please don't get discouraged. It is a great sign that your other little birds have figured it out!

So many birds

These are incredible. At one point yesterday on a frigid January in upstate NY, I had 12 goldfinches, 5 bluebirds and a few hairy and downy woodpeckers. Later the creepers, titmice and chickadees arrived. Juncos all over the ground underneath! What a pleasure to watch from the warm house.

The Feed Tubes for my yard birds took a few days for them to trust/eat, but now I get a mix of beautiful Ohio songbirds and rascally squirrels at the feeding station. All hungry critters are welcome.

Attracts a wide variety of birds

Brings in downies, red bellies, jays, wrens, titmice, cardinals, doves and even mockingbirds. If my yard was more open I bet the bluebirds would love this seed cylinder.
