So popular with the woodpeckers. This particular cake has brought in many downy, and northern flicker woodpeckers. Regal birds!

The BEST

These seed cakes are of the highest quality!! They’re amazing. They stay together, do not crumble, and, most of all, my backyard feathered friends, and squirrels 🐿️ LOVE them.

"Woodpecker Favorite" large cakes is popular with all the birds

I fill my fly through feeder with a couple of different cakes, but one of the most popular with all the birds is the "Woodpecker Favorite" Cake. Not only do I get Woodpeckers, but the Blue Jays, Thrashers, and many others love it as well. I always keep well stocked with the large cakes, because the birds let me know when it's low or out.

Awesome for all types of wildlife.

This is excellent for all types of birds. I'm seeing bird species that I've never seen before. Also, it attracts raccoons and squirrels. The wildlife absolutely devour these seed cakes.

Do I stop feeding the birds in the spring/summer to encourage their natural foraging and start feeding again in early fall through winter/early spring?

Nature Niche

Birds will find their favorite food whenever and however they can. This is why we see a dropoff at the feeders during harvest season in the fall, but spring is a great time to feed birds because plants haven't produced seeds and the insects are not abundant yet. Many people enjoy feeding their birds all year round, but if you are wanting to take a seasonal break mid-to-late summer through late fall is the best time to do so. Once harvest is over and the cold weather returns they flock back to the feeders.
