Includes four cylinders!

This safflower seed cylinder is the perfect way to feed your favorite bird species! Safflower tastes bitter to squirrels, so they tend to leave it alone, if there are other good things to eat in the area. Besides squirrels, safflower also tends to deter grackles and starlings with its bitter taste and hard hull, although some individuals may adapt and eat it with time or in desperation.

Attracts: Cardinals, Jays, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Grosbeaks, Titmice, Doves, Finches (House, Purple), Downy Woodpeckers, and Chipmunks; occasionally House Sparrows

Disappointed

The product tends to fall apart during shipping. Whatever didn’t, falls apart when one places on the cylinder pole. There is not enough that binds it together so it falls apart easily. Birds like it. But you might as well purchase loose seed because as a cylinder feeder product it is not good.

Thank you very much for the feedback and additional detail about the shipping box condition! Please know we have reported the issue to the manufacturer several weeks ago, so they can correct their safflower cylinder formula. We are refunding you for the crumbling safflower cylinders in this order. Our deepest apologies, and thank you for letting us know, so we can make it right for you and give feedback to the manufacturer!

The cardinals love it.

The cardinals and finches love it. Great seed and I have this on subscription so I never run out!

Birds love it!

We have house finches, cardinals, chickadees, and nuthatches enjoying the safflower seeds. Happy that the starlings don't even touch it and the sparrows show little interest. These cylinders hold together well, while others we've purchased elsewhere have crumbled more easily. Excellent product.

looked exactly as pictured and prompt delivery

Birds went after like there was no tommoro. Good standby for them to pick from when other food is gone and starlings don't like

Different

Feeding with seed cylinders is new to me. I love it! Easier to clean, no waste and birds feeding. I think the birds were a bit standoffish at first.

Birds dislike

I have one fruit and berry and one safflower out. Fruit and berry is gone and safflower doesn’t look like it’s been touched!

Thanks for your feedback. Safflower tends to deter squirrels, grackles, other blackbirds, and European starlings, because of the tough outer shell and bitter taste. It's high fat and high protein and usually used to attract cardinals, grosbeaks, and deter the 'nuisance' species above. So if those species have access to your seed cylinders, we would expect the safflower one to last longer than the other varieties. If you feed both a sunflower based cylinder and safflower at the same time, the birds will work over the sunflower one first for sure. They should eat the safflower with time. If you aren't trying to deter certain species, I would recommend using mixed seed cylinders in the future. Hope this helps!

Very good deal and very fast shipping--win win!!

I was happy to find this company and will order from them again. No annoying annual 'membership' to get the lower prices. The shipping was super fast, too.

Safflower seed cylinder

My birds will not eat the safflower cylinders. I tried them this time because of the price but they were not interested. They eat all the other cylinders you have sent in 2 or 3 days but after leaving the safflower out for 5 days, it was hardly touched

Seed Cylinders

I haven't used them yet as I purchased them to get a hedge on inflation. The similar ones I purchased a few months ago are a big hit with my birds. My local Wild Birds Unlimited prices are outrageous on similar products. Even with your 10% increase they are still a good value.
