Barrier Guard Specialty Bluebird Feeder - Copper Tint

The bluebirds and smaller birds love this feeder. They no longer have to compete with the larger birds that chase them off. They get to feast on mealworms throughout the day now!

LOVE This feeder! Not only is the copper beautiful but it is REALLY well constructed & VERY easy to refill. Purchased the metal bowl accessory to replace the glass one for the winter-time feeding. Filled it will dried meal worms & bluebird nuggets & within 6 days had my 1st bluebirds feeding!! However, would not recommend the additional perch add-on...per my Dad who has been a bluebird expert in the state for over 30 years...the bluebirds don't need the perch & having the perch only encourages the larger birds to land on the feeder & eat what's on the edges outside of the bowl.

This feeder is well designed and well made. The cover keeps feed dry and the mesh keeps out starlings and larger birds. I use it to feed mealworms, which bluebirds love. They were already accustomed to a mealworm feeder without the barrier guard, so they took to this one in a few minutes. The smaller bluebirds pass through the barrier mesh with no trouble, but some of the larger ones avoid it and use the perch to eat worms that fall out of the cup and end up near the edge. I’m glad I bought the add-on perch attachment, the birds use it before entering the feeder. It’s money well spent.

It is as beautiful as it looks. Perfect weight which makes it easy to hang yet it can ride out strong summer storms. Waiting for my first bluebird but that will happen in time. Glad I bought it.

I bought my feeder in July 2022 to feed meal worms to bluebirds. I didn’t see much success until now. This spring, a male and a female have been feeding every day around 6:00 am. They would take turns each patiently waiting for the other to finish eating. An couple days ago, they started stuffing several worms in their beaks and flying away, so they must be feeding babies!
