Mondays with Martha #73 - Mystery Bird Illness Update
This week I provide an update on the mystery bird illness reported from the eastern United States this spring and summer and discussed in Mondays with Martha #60 Part 1. Although the cause of the illness remains unknown, major known bird diseases transmitted bird-to-bird have been ruled out, and do-not-feed orders have been lifted as reported cases have ceased. So put your feeders and baths back out, if you live in an affected area, but keep them disinfected and continue to look for and report observations of sick or dead birds at your feeders.
