Proposed Changes to Endangered Species Act Regulation Video

Mondays with Martha #245 - Proposed Changes to Endangered Species Act Regulation

This week I review the proposed changes to Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulation to help you know what the changes are, understand the ramifications, and give you the opportunity to steward our rare species. By rescinding the definition of "harm" under the ESA, the proposed rule opens the door to harmful practices that negatively impact our rare species, including significant habitat modification or impairing behaviors like feeding, breeding, or sheltering as well as confusion, inefficiency, and uncertainty around ESA consultation and permitting. I encourage you to raise your voice to protect our most imperiled species and the habitats essential to their survival! Public comments are due in just two weeks on Monday May 19, 2025. Special thanks to Stan Lilley, Tracy Anderson, Mike Nelson, and Jeanne Henderson for letting me share some of their rare species photography and to the people and organizations who have helped me better understand this important regulatory topic!
