About this beautiful bird: The Kirtland’s Warbler is a beautiful gray-and-yellow bird and one of the rarest songbirds in North America and has a distinctive song. This striking bird was one of the first species to be listed under the Endangered Species Act after the ESA's passage in 1973. Kirtland's warbler is also known in Michigan by the common name jack pine bird, or the jack pine warbler. Nearly extinct just 50 years ago, populations have recovered due to conservation efforts.
