Barrier Guard Double Suet Cake Feeder - Copper

Beautiful, functional, durable

This suet cake feeder has put to rest a perennial anxiety that has troubled me throughout my bird-watching years, namely, the persistent intrusion of the local starling and grackle population on my suet station. No more! The Erva cage feeder, aesthetically pleasing and built to last, stops these pests cold at the perimeter!

Starling Proof

This is a great suet feeder! The starlings cannot reach my suet at all. But the other birds have no issue feeding here. It’s a win win.

Great Product

I bought this feeder because the starlings would empty out my old suet feeder within a couple days. I even tried the upside down suet feeders that starlings aren’t supposed to be able to use and they finished off those suet cakes just as fast. With this new feeder I am able to keep starlings out and the woodpecker that I put the suet cakes out for is able to enjoy the food all to his own.

LITTLE TO NO BIRDS USE IT

I EXCITEDLY brought this feeder during nesting season so my redbellied, downy and hairy woodpeckers can enjoy suet without being bullied by the starlings and grackles. The woodpeckers, titmice, wrens, and 1or 2 sparrows flew to check out this feeder a few times. Very disappointing that their are no continuous users for this feeder that cost so much. Hopefully things change in the winter.

Thanks for the feedback! It can take several weeks for birds to adjust to a new feeder, especially if it's in a new location. I've also observed that it can take some extra time for the birds to adjust to the barrier guard, so don't give up yet! For best results attracting downy woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, and other small birds that prefer suet, place the feeder close to shrubs and/or in or near trees that provide protective cover and staging perches for them to feel safe and inspect their surroundings for predators before flying to the feeder. Feeders placed in large open spaces will not attract many woodpeckers. Please note that the 1.5' x 1.5' barrier guard is designed to keep out the larger birds, so the hairy and red-bellied woodpeckers won't be able to access the suet. Hope this helps!
