Made from recycled plastic materials, this Amish built hopper feeder is an excellent value. This feeder can be hung by the included cable or set on a flat surface. The top lifts off to refill the seed.  The plexiglass panels are removable for easy cleaning.  Perforated metal floor provides good drainage. 

Easily converts to a covered tray/fly-through feeder by removing the plexiglass panels. It works great for feeding dried mealworms to bluebirds and small seed cakes to a variety of songbirds in this configuration!

The deep tray on this feeder does create about a 13/16" opening beneath the Plexiglas.  This makes it useful for feeding chunkier seed mixes with larger striped sunflower seeds or mixed nuts.

It’s ok. Easy to order, no problems with shipping.

But, the opening at the bottom is too large and I go through seed very quickly. I tried to add a layer of packing tape at the bottom to reduce the size by 1/2.
Also, it’s a challenge to refill while hanging! They cord could be longer to accommodate this.

The overall product is ok and I don’t regret purchasing 2 of them. Just have to make adjustments which seem somewhat unreasonable for the $100 I spent.

It is on the small side of the range of feeders made by Hilltop Specialties, so it's not surprising to go through seed quickly in this feeder. Yes, the feeder does need to be pulled down to be refilled. Depending on my feeder needs and the time of year, I like pulling out the Plexiglas panels and using it as a covered tray/fly-through feeder. It works great for feeding dried mealworms to bluebirds and small seed cakes to a variety of songbirds. It doesn't need to be pulled down when used in this configuration. Hope this helps!
