Bluebird Nesting Habitat Class - 2024

We're bringing back this popular bluebird habitat class from 2023! In early spring eastern bluebirds will be scouting for a place to nest. Learn about the ecology and life history of this charismatic cavity nester and how you can best provide and maintain quality nesting habitat on your own property. Nest box characteristics, siting, and management will be discussed in detail.

The class will occur at our retail location at 2004 W. Wackerly St. Midland, MI on Saturday, March 9th from 4-5pm. Approximately 45-50 minutes will be dedicated to this presentation, followed by a general Q&A session.  

Our speaker, Tonya Hunter, is a Professional Landscape Architect, Certified Arborist, and bird enthusiast. She has over 20 years experience in environmental consulting, habitat restoration, wetland mitigation, native plant design, and wildlife management plans. Her appreciation of nature began on the family farm, where she wandered the woods, caught frogs in the pond, and spent hours watching barn swallows raise their broods. Tonya has monitored bluebird nests ever since she installed her first bluebird box on that farm in the 1990s.
