I make my own crunchy peanut butter suet and the birds love the new domed feeder.

Best Grackle buster!

I have been looking for a bird feeder to stop the big bully birds. You have to adjust the lid down to the right height. But I still get cardinals, chickadees, and finches. The only bigger bird to bother so far is a red wing black bird, and a cow bird.

Dome Feeder Drawback

I have had several of these feeders and they work very well...the birds, especially cardinals love them. One issue I have though is I live across from a harbor...not the open ocean but I do get strong winds off the water. The design of the dome seems especially susceptible to wind gusts and I've found the feeder on the ground more frequently than I'd like. Often the dome itself and once even the saucer cracked. If the material used were less brittle, they might withstand getting dumped on the ground better. Other than that the feeder is a favorite with both the birds and me.

Thank you for your feedback! I have several customers living in high-wind landscapes and always recommend finding a way to secure the feeder to your hanging pole, hook, or chain. Perhaps a system that secures a closed carabiner to the hook or chain might work. That way, you can unclip the carabiner to get the feeder down easily for refilling and cleaning, but the wind can't blow it off and cause damage. Hope that helps!
