This week I discuss one of 13 frog and toad species in Michigan, the wood frog. Cutely masked and capable of cryogenic freezing, this amphibian is a key species in vernal pools and an important part of woodland food webs. Learn what their breeding call sounds like in early spring and compare to other frog and toad calls available on this helpful Michigan DNR website: https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-350-79135_79218_79616_83198---,00.html
And don't forget to keep monitoring your window wells, as discussed in Mondays with Martha #48!
