Having a squirrel baffle on your pole prevents squirrels and small raccoons from climbing or jumping up to the bird feeder. The flat top is stable enough to provide a feeding platform for some smaller birds to eat dropped seeds from the feeder or try offering peanuts or suet crumbles.

  • Fits poles 1/2" to 1-3/4" diameter. It does not split apart and will NOT work for shepherds hooks.

Note: To keep squirrels from getting onto your bird feeder, place your pole-mounted feeders 8-10' away from railings, roofs or trees. The top of the squirrel baffle should be a minimum of 4' from the ground to protect the bird feeder.

Have had one for years and it still keeps them out.

Squirrels can't get around it and raccoons can't either. I have one that is over 20 plus years old and still looks great. We needed another one for a sky platform feeder for peanuts for the Blue Jays, Cardinals, and Tufted Titmouse's.

So far the baffle itself has worked well for the few days it has been up. The squirrels are pretty clever and it has been amusing to see their attempts to bypass it. We'll see. Getting the pole anchored in our very hard clay soil was quite an effort. The "auger" at the bottom was not quiite up to penetrating that soil but with additional tools and a lot of sweat and elbow grease we got it done.

As long as u keep away from trees this baffle works great at keeping squirrels from emptying your bird feeder. Also not noisy like some other baffles.

I really like the design of this. Having a wide base on the ring for the top to sit on means the baffle does not become a giant unwanted wind chime. It's so solidly made as well that I feel like this is a re-purposed industrial part of some sort :-).

It has an unexpected benefit as well - it's stable enough to provide a feeding platform for some smaller birds to eat the dropped seeds from the feeder. I put crushed peanuts on their on purpose now, and the nuthatches and chickadees seem to appreciate it (and they appreciate the lack of chipmunks even more, I'm sure).

Hello, I have a 2 1/2” round pole. Can I increase the diameter of the hole without effecting the integrity of the baffle?

The hardware that supports this baffle will not accomodate a pole that large in circumference. The largest it will work with is 1.75"

Does this baffle install over the top or bottom of the pole or is it in halves so that it can be installed onto the side of the pole?

It is installed by sliding the collar hardware and the baffle over the top of the pole.

How does this attach to the pole?
