Registration Fee for Fall Foliage Prints Workshop - 2024

Come join us for this fun fall foliage art workshop and the last Nature Niche class for the 2024 season! Using a gel plate, you will create one-of-a-kind prints of your favorite leaves that capture the essence of Fall.  This workshop is a unique opportunity to experiment with art tools and techniques that you may not have tried before! No experience necessary. Dress appropriately, as we will be using acrylic paint – an apron is recommended.

Instructor Julie Welsh will guide you through the process and share examples of how to use your botanical prints. Various kinds of paper, gift tags, and blank cards and envelope supplies will be provided, so you will generate lots of fun foliage artwork to take home! 

The workshop will occur at our retail location at 2004 W. Wackerly St. Midland, MI from 4-7 pm on Saturday October 19th. Each participant will receive a kit that includes the materials you need to make numerous botanical prints. A short supply list is available here, including suggested supplies you may want to bring but don't have to. If you want to use leaves and foliage specifically from your own landscape or another special place, these should be gathered in advance, dried, and placed under heavy books to press. Preregister by October 17th, so supplies and tools can be organized for your enjoyment.

Michigan based self-taught artist Julie Welsh has been honing her skills creating mixed media artwork since 2009. Her primary focus is on the use of paper ephemera in collage and mail art. In recent years Julie has expanded her body of work to include serious explorations of current issues. For the past five years she has taught various mixed media classes at Creative 360, a nonprofit community arts organization.
