Excellent feeder!

Initially, I ordered a different feeder, but when the large cylinder didn't fit that feeder as it should, Nature Niche made it right by sending this new one free of charge. I couldn't be more pleased 😄 thank you to Jodi and the entire staff at Nature Niche!

Squirrels Outsmart Humans

This feeder is a lovely looking feeder and I will continue to use it even though the squirrels have found a way around the grill. The squirrels jump onto the feeder and grab the food from the open bottom of the feeder. The bottom should have a solid plate on the bottom. I tried taping a pie plate to the bottom, but the squirrel figured out how to remove it. This feeder has provided me with hilarious acrobatics by the squirrels. Instead of using it as a bird feeder, I am going to use it as a squirrel feeder. It will keep the squirrels busy and away from the other feeders that I have.

Thanks for your feedback! Correct, this feeder isn't intended to be squirrel proof. It does a nice job of holding the big chunks together as the birds get down to the last of the cylinder or if the cylinder is exposed to a lot of elements and starts breaking apart. I'm glad you've enjoyed their acrobatics, though :) If you're looking for a cylinder feeder that gray and fox squirrels can't access you could consider the Erva barrier guard cylinder feeder--just know that really persistent squirrels will climb on it and try to no avail to chew through the wire mesh: If you're feeding the squirrels elsewhere, that should lessen the pressure on feeders just for the birds.
