Known for its playfulness and bushy tail, the squirrel is found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. Its tail can be used for balance, as a form of parachute when falling from a high tree, or as a blanket in cold weather. In Greek, the word 'squirrel' means 'shadow tail'. The most iconic behavior of squirrels is burying and storing nuts and acorns for winter. As they do not dig them all up, this results in countless trees added to our landscapes and forests.
