This is feeder is one of our favorites for keeping hungry eastern bluebirds fed while keeping the European starlings at bay! Bluebird feeder comes with a blue glass (dishwasher safe) mealworm cup and wire mesh barrier guard. This baffled bluebird feeder is surrounded by sturdy vinyl coated wire mesh with 1-1/2" square openings to keep out starlings and most squirrels. The top and bottom are fully galvanized steel and powder coated in a blue finish for years of durability. 

The glass cup is 3.25" in diameter and 1" deep and holds about two handfuls of dried mealworms.  This feeder comes with a galvanized cable. The cable with the slide pulled down to secure the lid adds 12" to the height of the feeder, which measures 14" W x 8" H. NOTE: Color of dish may fade over time. To preserve color longer do not put in dishwasher, hand wash with soap and water. 

Attracts the following birds: Eastern bluebirds, chickadees, downy woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, orioles, wrens, and occasionally warblers. We've had mixed reports from customers: sometimes northern mockingbirds fit and sometimes not.

We recommend adding the Perch Accessory, sold separately or as a bundle, to help your bluebirds perch together, decide on an entry point, and gain easy access to the feeder.

You may also mount it on a 1" pole by using a Pole Adapter, sold separately.

What a great investment!

I put mine out this morning for the first time, and they (some of them) took to it almost immediately! I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. We had a Carolina Wren that took to it as well. The funny part was watching the Starlings come for the first time, as they were instantly repelled. In fact, after that they never came back. So, at the end of the day they went through 1 1/2 heaping cups of mealworms. I only wish now that the cups held more. BTW, the packing job on the feeder was second to none! Thanks!

This feeder is doing the trick.

My main interest in getting this feeder was to slow down starlings from gobbling down all food and scaring bluebirds and the more interesting small birds away. It works. Starlings cannot get in. They will mob the feeder trying to get in, and other birds will stay away during those times, but they leave with empty stomachs.

If you are going to buy this feeder, GET THE PERCH WITH IT. The bluebirds had a tough time getting in without it. Nuthatches, chickadees and titmice had no problems without the perch, but bluebirds were not as adept at clinging to the wires while getting through the openings.

The only drawback would be that the dish does not hold much. So far, it's been emptied twice a day or more, but bluebirds travel in mobs this time of year. During the mating season, that might change.

It Works

Great feeder that prevents the starlings from eating all my meal worms. Blue birds took to it within a few days, good quality would recommend if you have any type of starling problem.

This is a beautiful and well made Bluebird feeder! I could not be happier with it! I bought it to help attract Bluebirds to our yard so only time will tell with that but it didn’t take long for the Nuthatches and Chickadees to go in and grab some mealworms! Super fast shipping too! Thank you!

Keeps the starlings out

This feeder is well designed and well made. The barrier mesh keeps starlings and other larger birds out, and most bluebirds are able to enter and feast on the mealworms I put out for them. Some of the bluebirds won’t enter the feeder, the mesh is a little too tight for the larger bluebirds. Bluebirds absolutely love mealworms, so they may overcome their hesitancy.
