Brought the small birds back

Grackles ruin my bird feeding efforts every spring with bullying and gluttony. . They’ve even figured out the upside down suet feeder. It didn’t take long for the smaller birds to figure this feeder out- even have smaller woodpeckers going in (actually had one in a bit of a panic trying to get out, but it figured it out quickly when I approached to possibly help). Easy to fill and clean. It’s a bit tricky to close the hanging cord over the lid evenly, so it doesn’t hang crookedly. I wish cardinals and grosbeaks could fit. I feed them safflower seed. I’m waiting to see if grackles decide to gather on one side onto seeds in their direction! Smart devils.

Thank you for your feedback! The best way to get the slide down the hanging cord evenly is to set the feeder on a flat surface, hold the middle of the cord taunt above the center of the roof, and push the metal slide downward toward the roof center. Hope this helps!

Awesome.

I bought this because my other feeder was overrun with starlings. This is as advertised- no starlings!! Other birds took some time to figure it out - 2 weeks or so - but this morning there were 5 bluebirds and a downy chowing down! So far it’s kept sparrows out too which is a nice bonus.

Sooo Happy!

I already had a peanut feeder that I used for Bark Butter Bits because my Bluebirds loved them but unfortunately so did the Startlings. See this and ordered it. It took the bluebirds about half a day to figure it out but once 1 went in within seconds I had 4 bluebirds in it. So excited to see them be able to eat without being run off by startlings. Its also nice because I can jjust put some mealworms right on floor of feeder. Definitely would recommend. Its expensive but it will pay for itself in no time since it dosnt get emptied by the bigger bird.
