Clever little gadget

Filled with unsalted peanuts in shells. Birds had a ball, but it didn't draw a variety of birds, primarily 3 kinds of woodpeckers. However, some smaller birds were attracted to the debris below the feeder after the woodpeckers do their thing. Got the red one and am happy with its' design and gauge of material used, as well as the heavy coat of paint. Would recommend, still wanting to see of squirrels get involved, to date they have not.

Surprised and happy!

My experience is a classic example of judging before experience. I have had these before and had never placed them within viewing distance. I have 67 feeders at my Maryland farm even though I don't live there most of the time; I just take enormous joy in knowing I am making life a little easier for the wildlife I love so well. I couldn't figure out how birds/squirrels extracted the peanuts easily and thinking it was a poor design, kept only one and didn't and hang it again. But there are so many birds, squirrels, deer and groundhogs now (250 pounds of seed lasts about 2 weeks) that I decided to hang them against tree trunks and see what happened. I ordered 4 and with the one I already had, filled and hung all 5. Within one day they were all empty and this time, I could see the blue jays and squirrels easily extracting the peanuts. My bad! My only challenge now is that once I return to Virginia, they have to wait at least a couple of weeks to get that rush again!

We keep this feeder filled all year long. 4 types of woodpeckers ,blue jays, nuthatches and squirrels all enjoy the peanuts.

So Far So Good!

I have had mine hanging outside off of my patio cover for about a week, and am so surprised the squirrels have not yet found it! They still come up to my back porch begging. But a few blue jays finally found it yesterday and I enjoyed seeing them pull out a nut and fly off. I'm very surprised that they did not clean it out, as they usually are very quick to swoop up any nuts I toss out to the squirrels. I like that it is still half full and hopefully will last for awhile. I'm satisfied with this purchase.
